Design law in Switzerland

Swiss Design law protects creations which are new and differ from existing objects in important points.  Industrial design can be registered at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, Bern. Non-Swiss residents and companies not registered in Switzerland must appoint a representative (Attorney, Patent Attorney). International Registrations of Design can be deposited directly with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Geneva, within 6 months after the national registration.

The legal protection of design, which includes its protection and defence against the unrequested use, is a prerequisite of any successful marketing strategy and design management.
